My wife and I are planning our two week honeymoon right now. We plan on leaving LAX around the 26th of March 2015 and flying direct to Tokyo. We want to make the cherry blossom and spend a week in and around the city. After the hustle and bustle of the worlds largest city we want to spend a week relaxing on a beach. The original plan was to head to Bali but after doing a bit of research we are torn between these three places and would love to hear some insight from people that have traveled to any of them.
We are an active late 20's couple that enjoy exploring, hiking, swimming just as much as we enjoy a good meal, a massage or a nice day lounging on a beautiful beach. What I want is a retreat, a place that will be calm and quiet. Somewhere that is truly exotic and beautiful. Budget for hotel stay and fun is about 4-5k USD.
Previously we've taken a few trips down to Costa Rica (Jaco in particular) where we rented ATVs, surfed, zip lined and then enjoyed the resort beach with a tropical beverage in hand. I think we both enjoy a genuine experience over an overly touristy locale.
