Anyone here ever travel Amtrak? Going to be doing a NY-Seattle (flying is obviously easier, but cannot) and I've never done any Amtrak travel, so looking for any experiences, or what I can look forward to having or seeing. Possible dos/don'ts, what to bring, stuff like that.
I've heard that it's best to pack on my own food/water, and that they normally will allow 2 check ins and 2 carry ons. What I'm wondering is how spacious the seats are. I was told it's similar to sleeping on a coach flight, but I've also seen trains that have what seems like large tables to sit at.
Before anyone asks, it's cheaper for me in this instance to travel by train, and since I've never done it before, I figured I'd take a shot and experience it.
