I'm wondering how the backpacking culture in south america compares to other popular regions, especially the people. (not asking about cost, hospitality etc)
Is the average a bit more mature than those western Europe? What is the demographics when is comes to nationalities? Is it mostly Europeans doing long trips? Also travelling style of the backpackers, do people tend to linger longer in a location compared to backpackers in Europe?
