Driving from Lisbon to the Albufeira via Evora - Tips?

I'm headed to Portugal tonight and as part of my trip I'm renting a car and driving down to the Alvarge. Ive been told to stop in Evora on the way because it is magnificent. Any tips on what to do in Evora or in Albufeira / surrounding area?
