Hey /r/travel! Like I said I'm going to Tokyo next month. It'll be for two weeks, from July 3/5-17/17. I included both the date I leave and the date I arrive, sorry if thats confusing.... Anyways, I am going by myself and am staying with family friends. They live near Haneda airport. This is the first trip I'll be taking leaving this continent (I'm going to Belize in two days!!!).
I just graduated and I will turn 18 the second of July. I am interested in some anime and mangas, but not much other Japanese culture. Other than a sword and sandals, theres not a lot more I'd be interested in.
That being said, I still want to experience the culture. Shibuya, Ghibli, and Meiji shrine are prime destinations. The fish market and sumo is also planned. We are also going to Wejima(spelling??) to see her family home.
I know you guys want a sort of budget, but I don't really know much... I guess sort of the average not too much, not overly frugal way is the way to go.
So if you guys have any tips, places, or warnings, that would be great!!!
Also, I have a long (seven hour) layover in Seattle on the way back. Its from 6PM to around one AM. Past the space needle I literally have no idea what to do.
Also(sorry!), if you guys have an idea of how much money I should bring and an idea of what I can/can't bring home, that would be great!
