I'm headed to Chiang Mai from Hong Kong on the 5th of July and plan on heading south from there with no set plans until the 25th when I return to Oklahoma. I want to get my girlfriend something really special and I thought what better than a dress made of Thai silk (also following in the footsteps of my grandfather who got a dress made for my grandmother in Thailand in the 1960s when he was an officer in the Air Force). Does anyone know the best place to go in Chiang Mai or Bangkok? How much can I expect to pay? Are there any common scams to watch out for? What can I expect in terms of turnaround, will I be able to get it done while I'm there or will I have to get it shipped back?
