My wife's grandparents used to live in Thailand while they were serving in the military, and I've wanted to take her there for some time. However, I've been paying attention to the political mess going on in Thailand right now, which has kept me from making any real plans to visit there.
The only place we'd likely travel to is Phuket, which I understand is largely tourism-based and might not have a lot going on with the current turmoil there. Can anyone with any experience tell me if this is the case?
If it isn't safe to travel there, can anyone recommend a similar destination that's as cost effective and has a gorgeous beach setting like Phuket does? Thanks!
