Travelling around South East Asia, leaving on the 30th June. Need some advice! (please...)

I posted here a few weeks ago, and got some really helpful responses. So now I'm back for more!

Me and four friends are travelling around SE Asia, starting in Ho Chi Minh and then flying up to Hanoi, before travelling overland through Laos and all the way to Chiang Mai. Then we'll fly down to Southern Thailand, head north from there to Bangkok, and finally head back through Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City.

My first questions are about visas. We know that we need them for Vietnam (vietnam-visa.com is legit, right?), and we've been told that we can buy them on the border for Laos and Cambodia (is this true?). As for Thailand, is it correct that we get 30 days free because we're all UK citizens? Because that'd cover us nicely. Also, does a "30 day multi-entry visa" mean we can enter a country as many times as we want within 30 days of getting the visa, or does it mean we can be inside the country for 30 days over any period of time (20 days within two months, for instance...)

Another thing I wanted to know was what sort of clothes to bring at this kind of year. Footwear? Long sleeve? Coat? Shorts? I have no idea...

And finally, money. What's the best way to carry it? I have experience with the Post Office Travel Money Card, but I'm not sure whether or not it works in Asia. Are there plenty of ATMs about?

Thanks for the help :)
