What novel items should I bring to Mexico to trade with locals (from Chicago)?

A friend sprung a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico on me. We leave from Chicago's O'Hare airport Monday 5/26/2014 and get back Tuesday 6/3/2014. We are both men in our mid 20's and are staying at an all-inclusive resort. We each have $1800 worth of credit to spend on activities in resort, but plan on venturing out a lot to get a taste of the area.

Every time I travel out of state/country I bring a few items with me that hold some sort of novelty to trade with people away from home/abroad. Usually it's stuff like snacks or t shirts. If you've never done this before I highly recommend it as you can make good friends and come home with some sweet memorabilia.

My question is: What can I bring from Chicago to Puerto Vallarta that will have some sort of social value to trade or give away to locals? I've done some searching on the interwebs and haven't really found any decent answers. Mainly only what not to bring through customs.
