Travelling to Chicago in August. Is two weeks too long?

Going to Chicago for two weeks. However I was thinking of spending a week somewhere else. Is there anywhere near Chicago that's really worth going to? Milwaukee or grand rapids maybe? Or should I just stay in Chicago for the two weeks?
