I was thinking of investing in some hiking boots before going, but have no idea what to buy that will work for walking and I want to climb the glacier...so need to be able to add clampons? They say you can rent the shoes, but I want to enjoy the landscape and not be worried about wet socks.
Also, all I've read are "layers" but any advice in particular about what i should pack?
