This may sound incredibly stupid, but is there some way I can understand an exchange rate in terms of goods?

I have never really traveled abroad, and when I see that $1 = 21155.02 Vietnamese dong, I do not really understand that. Is there some resource I can use that compares goods? Like for example how much would a candy bar cost in Vietnam compared to a candy bar in the U.S.?
