Howdy, Myself, my boyfriend, a male friend, and a female friend paid for a trip to Mexico. We are flying into Mexico city, renting a car, and driving to the Yucatan peninsula. We had a fifth fluent spanish speaker going, but he just backed out today (after paying the flight and everything..). He's the only spanish speaker. Other than that, my boyfriend is the only one who can speak any spanish at all (and it's extremely minimal and poor). We are a few graduate students doing some hiking, camping..etc. What's your input on safety?
We won't have expensive things, we paid the maximum car insurance fees, aren't planning on driving at night, are taking the toll roads...etc. Any advice or opinions on the situation?
