I've been looking at the prices of hotels and hostels in SEA for January 2015. I've been looking at a variety of booking websites. Some of the hotels/hostels have notifications that say things like "last room" or "only 2 rooms left", etc. My plan was to book the first hotel we stay in following the flight, and then figure it out from there as we travel along. I assume finding a room won't be much of a problem in most places if we do not book ahead? I like the idea of booking on the fly because I don't have a rigid itinerary or time frame, nor do I care to adopt one. Just a rough route idea. Thoughts on booking on the fly vs. booking ahead?
