Last year I went to Tokyo from Minneapolis for $1,100. I'm planning on going again this November and have not seen anything for less than $1,400, with most of the fares being $1,800 or more. The $1,400 fares are very sporadic and aren't that great - 2 stops/long layovers.
I've been searching various dates and have looked at other months. I've been using Google flights (so far the best), Kayak, and Hipmunk.
Is this really where airfares are going? I planned on probably spending a little more, but an extra $300-$700 is a lot. Have you guys noticed international flight prices rising like that? Considering I'm buying tickets for two people this is getting expensive.
Relatedly, searching Google Flights shows some fares for $1,398, but after you choose your flights it changes to $1,554.
p.s. I've looked in the sidebar, I've searched reddit/this sub, and I've searched Google but can't seem to find any info on rising airfares. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
