Going on a vacation to hilton head south carolina from northeastern ohio. We will be stopping halfway to rest, but have a little bit of free time. Where should we stop/what should we do?

I am going with my family on a vacation to hilton head, and we are driving from northeast ohio. We plan on stopping halfway (ish) to sleep, but we also have some time before we can check into our condo, and I was trying to think of a cool place to stop. Just looking for something fun to do for 4 adults that isn't too expensive and isn't to far out of the way. I believe we are coming down on I-77. It will be during july 4th weekend, so if there is an event, that is an option. Thanks for your help!
