Last year, my wife and I had a great trip through southern Europe: 4 days in Barcelona, 3 in Nice, and 4 in Florence and we want to do something similar this year. This time from Austria to Germany to Switzerland
It will be a 2-week trip in mid-September. We're beginning in Vienna (my idea since I'm a musician and want to see all things Mozart/Haydn/Schubert-related) and making our way to Munich before finally heading into Switzerland for the final leg of our trip.
My wife definitely wants to see Basel since she's an artist but I'm not sure what else there is to do there. From some things I've read, I get the sense Geneva is dull and Zurich is mainly for people who like to shop (and although budget isn't a huge issue, shopping is not really a big hobby of ours). So which other cities/towns/attractions should be on the must-visit list?
