My family is planning on make a trip to Yellowstone from Chicago in late July/Early August. We have a planned stop at Mount Rushmore, and would like to make two night stops in between Chicago and Rushmore, and Rushmore and Yellowstone. I was thinking of stopping in Des Moines the first night, and going to Rushmore the next day. I would like to see Sioux Falls, but I don't think it works out time wise. The Black Hills are an hour away from Rushmore, and I think that would be a great place to see. Is there somewhere to stop near Rushmore or the Black Hills so that we could stop there over night before heading on to Yellowstone?
