I am very concerned and need some advice. Someone very close is going from Toronto to San Francisco for about 3 month or more. She's been having a lot of trouble figuring out health insurance situation. She has a prescription here in Canada for Effexor, Venlafaxine (Effexor) 75mg/day, and she will have to refill it in the US.
She's looking for a plan that would cover it, because unfortunately paying full price is out of the question.
The problem is that so far it's been difficult to find something that would cover that (i.e. mental health related services and medications), preexisting conditions especially.
She's a Canadian citizen (not American). Would the facts covered in American Association on Health and Disability - Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity apply?
Would you happen to know what can be done about it? The flight is in 4 days, and can't be postponed to taper off the dose (currently on 75mg day) because it's the only job opportunity currently available.
