Traveling solo from July 1st to August 15th in Europe, landing in Amsterdam, planning to spend about 4-5K excluding plane tickets to Europe and back. I designed my trip to roughly be in a loop that start and ends at Amsterdam. Here are my flexible plans, revised after an earlier post to /r/solotravel (each listing includes 1 day for travel, worst case scenario)
- Amsterdams, Netherlands - 4 days
- Bruges, Belgium - 2 days
- Antwerp, Belgium - 1 day
- Brussels, Belgium - 3 days
- Cologne, Germany - 2 days
- Munich, Germany - 4 days
- Zurich, Switzerland - 4 days
- Salzburg, Austria - 1 day
- Vienna, Austria - 3 days
- Ljubljana, Slovenia - 3 days
- Dubrovnik, Croatia - 4 days
- Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina - 4 days
- Belgrade, Serbia - 3 days
- Budapest, Hungary - 4 days
- Bratislava, Slovakia - 4 days
- Krakow, Poland - 4 days
- Prauge, Czech Republic - 4 days
- Berlin, Germany - 3 days
- Amsterdam, Netherlands - 0.5 days
I feel like I'm trying to stuff too much into this trip, too much breadth instead of depth. I'm trying to see parts of the West, Central, and Easter Europe, as they all appeal to me. However, I want to visit these places like I'm never coming back again, because there's so much more in the world to see. I'm also never going to get a chance to do a 1.5 month trip like this again. What things should I leave out for another trip?
I've seen parts of Western Europe with family when I was a teenager, and have only minor interest in France, England, and Italy. But I've never seen Spain and it calls to me. Should I fit Spain somewhere in there (even though it'll only be a few days in Barcelona and require a flight from Zurich) or should I reserve that for a separate trip (Portugal + Spain + Morocco)?
Are there any smaller cities in the countries above that I missed? Or even entire countries?
Thank you so much /r/travel, I'm super excited!
