So it started out as a joke in 2012 that we would spend 3 months traveling Europe, fast forward to today I am $1,000 short of my $7,000 goal and she is $1,500 short of her $7,000 goal. We plan to travel Europe for 3 months on $14,000.
I did a short one month trip to Europe in 2011 but it was a flash and I feel I missed so much.
We are planning on making use of all the cheap travel options like CanadianAffair to get to the UK on the cheap and Airbnb/clones to stay cheap, transport will be cheaper train and RyanAir/Wizz air we are also going to limit our time in eurozone countries in favor of countries with more favorable exchange rates.
Below I am going to do a quick list of our itinerary, some of our places we are going to for a specific purpose others I am going to because they look interesting. I am looking for suggestions or things to do in these places or hopefully suggestions on what might be a better place to go in the vicinity.
Itinerary:
London, UK (This will be our entry point into Europe; ~3days)
Paris, France (Only because we are so close to London; ~3days)
Ouistreham, France (Big reason we want to go is WW2 related history; DDay landings ~1day)
Amsterdam, Netherlands (Anne Frank house: ~4days)
Split, Croatia (No particular reason, it looks nice ~4days)
Munich, Germany (Dachau, ~4days)
Obersalzberg, Germany (Berghof mansion ~2 days)
Berlin, Germany (historical significance; museums? ~4 days)
Wolfsburg, Germany (VW Museum; ~2days)
Warsaw, Poland (Museums, Łazienki park ~4days)
Krakow, Poland (Auschwitz, Wawel ~4days)
Prague, Czech Republic (Not sure was told not to miss it, drinking? ~4days)
Bratislava, Slovakia (train to Zurich ~1day)
Zurich, Switzerland (Seems like a cool place? ~3days)
Milan, Italy (Plane to Ibiza, Spain)
Ibiza, Spain (party + beach life ~remaining time)
That's it from Spain back to the UK and home. So if anyone has any suggestions for additional places, or a place to swap, or if something you feel I might be missing in a certain country please let me know because I'd like to ensure I am making the most of my time.
Edit: Forgot to mention we are down for shortening or extending stays in places, we have also left additional time to venture off if we heard of something worth seeing off our route.
