My buddy and I are looking to take a trip to celebrate our 30th birthdays this September (2nd through 11th or 12th). We both have around $2000 to spend and we have the time off from work, but no trip planned yet. We want to spend about half the trip in Barcelona, and I was hoping I could get some suggestions on the other city we should visit.
Some criteria: -city known for good beer (have considered somewhere in Germany, Belgium, Amsterdam, Budapest) and hopefully good, not necessarily fancy or expensive food -good weather (shouldn't be a big problem in early September I am guessing) -good walking city, but it would be nice if there was someplace to hike or explore nearby. -easy/cheap travel from Barcelona
We have both traveled to Italy, so I don't think either of us want to go there again on this trip. Also, that 2000 dollars needs to include flights out of Boston area. We will likely stay in hostels to allow us to spend more money on activities/food/beer.
