A friend and I will be backpacking through Central America (a first time experience for both of us) for 98 days starting in late October 2014 and ending in early February 2015. We are flying in/out of Panama City and have a rough plan to travel up one coast, cut over to the other, and head back down to Panama. I'm primarily looking for cheap or inexpensive housing recommendations- hostels, hotels, apartment rentals, etc. We really want to visit Alta Hun and Lamanai in Belize, Tikal in Guatemala, and Copan in Honduras- so any suggestions near those places would be extremely helpful. Same goes for anything on or close to a beach/caye anywhere in CA. Any and all other travel tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!
