Hi!
Mid-30s male, getting ready for to embark on some long-term travel. My first stop is Portugal and I'd like to know what you guys think about this list of places to see. I know I won't make it to all of them, but these are the ones on my initial list.
Please let me know if I'm missing anything (cities, parks, side trips, experiences, etc.).
I've already traveled through Europe, but it was when I was much younger (prior to the Euro) and didn't make it to Portugal. I've also traveled to Asia and S. America and speak Brazilian Portuguese.
Length: no rush, but maybe 3 weeks or so before heading to Spain.
Budget: backpacker, maybe $50/day, couch surfing, using Air BnB and hostels
Interests - Culture and history. I also like outdoors stuff such as hiking and would like to try camping. Snorkeling is fun, but I'm not the kind of person who just likes to "hang out" on the beach all day.
Food: doesn't matter. whatever is cheap. I'm not too crazy about seafood though. (I know, I know...)
So, here's the list I'm working from. If you think I'm missing anything, please let me know. More importantly, what should I skip? I think the list is too big!
Lisbon (side trips to Sintra and Cascais)
Evora, Estremoz and Monsaraz (to see the ruins)
Coimbra
Porto
Nazaré
Alcobaça
Obidos
Batalha
Peneda-Gerês National Park
São Leonardo de Galafura (Douro Valley)
Berlenga Island
Braga (Side trip to Guimarães)
