Hey r/travel! I'm leaving in 6 days for my 40 day trip through Europe. I would appreciate any advice!

Here are the basics:

  • Budget ~$5000. My plane tickets to and from are already paid for (Hooray for being an expat!), so I have some money to play around with.

  • 50L Osprey. I know its big but I don't plan on packing a lot. I want to carry it on.

  • Traveling from June 26th-August 3rd.

  • I'm flying out of Lubumbashi, DRC to Istanbul (1-2 days)

  • Fly to CPH for Roskilde festival (7-8 days)

  • Berlin (3-4 days)

  • Prague (3-4 days)

  • Vienna or Budapest 3-4 days (Haven't decided which place to go. Maybe both?!)

  • London/ Lichfield to visit friends (4-5 days)

  • Paris (3 days)

  • Amsterdam (3-4 days)

  • Rome (5-6 days)

  • Fly to CPH and then back to Africa!

Questions:

I'm torn between flying and trains (I'll probably mix it up) because the Eurorail is so damn expensive. My company will reimburse me for some of the flights but not all. Is it worth it? Or is it better to just show up and purchase them then?

Other than that I plan on keeping everything pretty wide open and free to change it up if needed. I have ideas on what I'd like to do in each place but I would be greatly appreciate any advice!

Cheers!
