At the beginning of August, some friends and I have decided to take the travel plunge and attempt the 4 day Inca Trail expedition to Machu Picchu. I have some other friends who are coming a bit later, taking the bus up to MP, and to aid in meeting up, I want to outfit both groups with a 2-way radio (something like this) I figure there isn't much point to taking phones since we'll be up in the mountains most of the trip, they're more expensive and presumably more attractive to thieves.
- Does anybody have experience doing this? How'd it go? (Including things like getting the radios through airport security, etc.)
- Is there anything related to this that I should otherwise be thinking about?
