Booking a hotel room as a minor

So me and a few friends are planning a trip to DC next January. Problem is, I'll only be 17 by the time we go and obviously I can't book a hotel by myself. There's 4 of us and we'll all be sharing the same room to save costs, if that matters at all.

However, A few of my friends are over 18, so that leads to my question: Can one of my friends book the hotel room for everyone else, me included? I'm a little confused about this, since I've heard that your parent/legal guardian has to be the one to book a room with you, it can't be just anyone over 18. So if anyone has some experience with this kind of situation, I'd very much appreciate a response.

Thanks!
