Hello there,
I'm in the early stages of booking a trip to Greece. I have about 4 weeks available, if you have the feeling it's too much I have nothing against spending a few days in Turkey/Asia minor.
My interests are landscapes, classical architecture, food and history, the occasional day on the beach once in a while and moderate difficulty hiking. Almost no interest at all in overcrowded places like Mykonos but nothing against the islands per se, given they have some kind of archaeological interest and stuff. I have gotten out of shape so
I would really like to use this trip as a chance to walk around the country as much as possible with a backpack, using public transportation only when mandatory. Wherever possible, I would prefer long walks of up to 4-6 hours a day between interesting locations.
My budget allows decent 2-3 stars hotels so no campings or sleeping out (wouldn't completely rule the latter out if the place was fantastic and safe of course).
So far the places that I would like to visit on this trip, given personal knowledge and pics seen on the net are:
Thessaloniki Mount Athos Meteora Mount Pelion Delphi Olympia Mystras Mycenae Corinthos Athens
From Athens I could fly to Cyprus and/or Crete, or fly to Ephesus/Smyrna... this part is very confused.
Do you think these places are enough to fill 4 weeks? No idea how many days to allocate on every place and so on.
Your input is very appreciated and thanks a lot for your answers.
