Short version: This Fall, going from Winnipeg to Auckland via LAX with a ~10 hour layover. I've never been to LAX - is it a fairly entertaining terminal, or will I have to bring a book? The flight arrives 1:30 PM local time and leaves around 11:30
Long version: The reason this happened is because I found a KILLER price on Google flights (~$850 one way, YWG to AKL) that no travel agent could come close to matching, but there was an issue... The layover at LAX was only 1.5 hours, and there was a warning that the flight from Vancouver to LA was usually delayed at least 30 min.
One hour is reallllly pushing it what with TSA and switching airlines, so I got creative via Expedia - I couldn't find the flight itself at that price, but I did find Winnipeg-Vancouver-LA and LA-Nadi-Auckland for the same price together. So, I booked both flights, giving myself a very cautious layover since I'm on two different tickets (FYI, I also have reallllly nice travel insurance, in case the 10 hour layover isn't enough).
I'm planning on sleeping on the LA to Nadi flight, since it's six hours and right around a standard late night time for me - but I'd love to hear if you guys happen to know whether or not LAX is a fun terminal to have a lengthy layover in.
TL;DR - What can I do at LAX with 10 hours?
