Haggling aid: base prices per country

Dear /r/travel,

this will be my first serious post, so bear with me here.

Me and my girlfriend are planning a trip around the world this and next year. The countries we are about to visit are Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New-Zealand, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and eventually Brazil. A lot of the countries we are about to visit are countries where haggling will be a standard part of the day.

Because haggling in an unknown country is always tricky, it helps to have a base concept of the prices in that country. It is for this purpose that I dedicate this post.

I would like to invite you all to contribute your prices and/or what you deem are reasonable prices.

To kick things off I'll add a few prices from Cameroon(My GF stayed there for 6 months).

Cameroon: Currency: CFA (1euro= 650CFA 1USD=500CFA)

*Taxi*

  • rural: 100CFA/5min

  • City: 200CFA/5min

    *Food*

  • rural dishes: 200-500CFA e.g. rice with beans, plantains with fish,....

  • City snacks: 500-1500CFA

  • Restaurant: 2500CFA(average)

  • banana: 100-200CFA/bundle

  • avocado: 50CFA

  • Mango: 50CFA

  • Tomato's: 100CFA/bag

  • Maggi cubes(seasoning) 1500CFA/bag --> pro tip a good present when visiting people in their home

    *Drinks(50cl)*

  • rural 650CFA

  • hotels and restaurants 1500CFA

    *Misc*

  • Internet: 300CFA/hour

  • Fabrics: 1000-2000CFA/meter

I know this isn't a complete list, but I hope this information will be of use. There are always prices that are set(restaurants, hotels, grocery stores,...), I tried to keep them out of the list.

TL;DR Post the local prices of a country to make haggling easier for other /r/travelers
