Driving up the east coast after Labor day. Where should we stop, stay, and explore?

My girlfriend and I are driving out of Charleston SC on Thursday and need to be in Atlantic City the following Monday. 9/4-9/8. So minus the 12 hour of driving, we have 6 states and 3 nights to explore the coast. We are in our mid and late 20s and havent decided what or where to go.

These are our considerations: * Virginia Beach

  • Chesapeake (MD bay)

  • DC

  • Baltimore

  • Outer Banks

  • Open to anything in between these are just things places I can see on a map.

Budget ~150$ a night on stay but preferably less. (AirBNB, Motel, Hotel) Modest activities around 50$ per day for bike rental or entrance fee to whatever.

*Outdoor activities (biking, hiking, running)

  • Attending sporting events (already checked the Orioles will be away the time we are traveling so my chance to visit Camden Yards will not happen this weekend)

  • BEACH

  • Trying new adventurous things

  • Food (if there is a shack in the middle of NC that is to die for and i can make a day out of it I will 100% do that)

  • Live Music - my bread and butter is Nudisco and deep house but I love live blue grass, jazz, and rock as well.

If its awesome and I should do it please tell. As long as its safe New=Good, Classic=Good, Weird=Good, Nature=Good, Nightlife=good. I hope I was descriptive enough. Thanks r/travel
