Hi My fiance and I are leaving the UK in January 2015 to travel to South East Asia, Australia then New Zealand.
I have very limited travel experience and was hoping some of you seasoned travelers might be able to help me with some booking advice.
I received a quote from STA travel for £986.42 p.p. one way (Edinburgh - Bangkok, Bangkok - Sydney, Sydney- Auckland)
I then searched my self on sky scanner then checked the prices on sky scanner by going to the airlines websites and came up with a total price of £777 p.p one way. The airlines included; air asia, LAN and China Airways. The flights I found also included using one booking website (netflights.com) for our flights from Birmingham to Bangkok.
Basically what I am asking is, is it okay to book with airlines and booking websites that I have never heard of before? How do I know if they are reputable? Which option would be best, spending the extra money to book with a company I know or go for the cheaper option to save more money for our adventures when we arrive?
Also, do I need to buy my travel insurance before I book the flights, in order to be covered for the flights?
Any thoughts/ advice would be greatly appreciated.
