Travelling to Iceland - What is a must have item to bring with you?

My wife will be travelling to Iceland in a week. Aside from staying in hotels, she will be doing some time travelling the countryside and hosteling.

Aside from the obvious things - for those of you who have traveled to Iceland - what is one must have item that you would have brought with you?

I am trying to connect with my father in Somalia. Any tips on how to travel there?

I am a 23 year old male living in the United States. I have recently graduated college, and I now desire to connect with father (I was born in the United States, however my relatives live Mogadishu, Somalia).

I am having trouble finding flights/tours that will take me to my destination. Does anyone with knowledge of the country or with personal travel experience there have any suggestions? I have researched and found little help on how to make this possible.

I have been saving up and have a $50,000 U.S. dollar budget. I have more emergency money if necessary, however I would like to stay close to this figure.

I was conceived in Somalia, however I was born in the United states. this will be my first trip outside the United States.

Anyone with advice on how to visit Mogadishu, Somalia and tips for staying there would help.

Iceland 2 Nights 1 Day - 7/3 to 7/5 - 1 day Tour starting in Reykjavik ending in Akureyri on 7/4

This July i will be Iceland for the 2nd time. Last time I stayed in Reykjavik for 2 days. I went whale watching and to the blue lagoon.

This time i'd like to go on the Golden Circle tour (Which research shows me is the most popular & best?)

As i've been out drinking in Reykjavik before I was hoping to catch a one day tour that starts in Reykjavik and ends in another city, maybe Akureyri? I know this can be done via a private guide route but i was hoping to spend a little less by finding an organized group tour.

The following is my itinerary so far:

July 3 - Arrive at KEF 23:40 - Go Drinking in Reykjavik July 4 - morning tour - Golden Circle tour ending in Akureyri July 4 - evening - Drinking in Akureyri July 5 - Bus or Flight to KEF from Akureyri to catch a 16:40 flight to Barcelona

Any Tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Multi-airline trip booked through one airline - who to call if problems?

I booked a trip through Qantas that has me flying outside Australia on other oneworld airlines.

If I'm on the road and (say) weather hits and a flight of mine gets canceled, who's better to call - Qantas or the airline I was due to fly?

One possible factor: I do have top-tier status with Qantas, which does mean I've got access to a dedicated team inside their call centre.

Is June a good time to go to the Dominican?

I am planning a vacation the last week of June to Samana, DR. But, I have waited to book because I am concerned with the weather. Has anyone else gone to the DR in late June and had to deal with a lot of rain?

Suitable backpack for a 2 week interrailing holiday?

I'm a student going interrailing with some friends for two weeks (10th of June - 24th) and am having a bit of difficulty trying to select a backpack. Will be travelling as light as possible as we are only bringing carry-on luggage. Bag has to meet the following weight and size restrictions:

Max weight 10kg (22lb)

Max size 55cm H (21.5") x 40cm W (15.5") x 24cm D (9.5")

Is three hours enough to make it from London Heathrow -> King's Cross/St. Pancras via Underground?

I didn't do enough research before I bought my train ticket from London to Edinburgh to leave at 11am. My flight arrives in London at 8am and from what I'm reading, customs can take an hour and going by underground takes an hour and I can probably expect an hour delay getting on the ground in London. I only have a carry on I'm bringing so that may help. Is 3 hours enough to make it or should I try and push my train ticket back?
