Should we go to Scandinavia, Eastern Germany, or Hungary and Austria?

All of this is purely speculation at this point, but I'd love to get your opinions on this.

Next summer (2015) my girlfriend is planning to study abroad in Prague for 6 weeks. (~5th of July - 13th of August)

We were planning to take a trip for a little longer than a week before her program starts, at which time I would head home (USA).

We had three possible locations in mind, and I'd like any information you guys had on whats there to see, and which you would recommend.

  1. Scandinavia - Norway and Sweden Fly to Oslo(?) and then she leaves on a flight from Stockholm.

  2. Eastern/southern Germany - Brandenburg, Saxony, Bavaria Fly to Berlin, end in Prague.

  3. Hungary and Austria - Fly to Budapest, travel through to Vienna, end in Prague.

I really don't have a clue what there is to do outside of the main cities in each area, and I haven't really considered travel except by train, so any information could be helpful.

I'd like to see some small town living, and natural sights in addition to whatever is in a main town.

We'd be on a fairly tight budget, not strapped, but definitely trying to save where possible.

Thank you for any information you have!
