I'm looking to book a 9 day trip to Rome and Florence for either the week of Labor Day or the third week of October. Can anyone provide insight into what the crowds are like at each of those times? How about the weather?
I'm also curious as to which hostels you guys might recommend. The search brings up a few threads from a year ago or so, so any more recent insight would be great. I'm looking for a non-party hostel, clean, relatively close to public transportation/sightseeing, and preference is for private rooms, but it's not a deal breaker.
