Planning post-university round the world trip, looking for ideas, budget and general trip advice.

I'm currently doing a paid work placement as a sandwich year to my degree, and I've already decided that I want to avoid working a little while longer when I finish. I'm planning on saving everything I can this year and whatever else I can sell that I don't need and spending a year or two traveling the world.

My current plans that I would like to do is a coast to coast USA road trip, down into southern america (either fly to Rio from CA or drive pan american highway) and travel my way through (Macchu Pichu is a must) before flying out to NZ/AUS (have considered working out in AUS for a while as well, I know working visas are reasonably easy to attain) before working my way up through eastern Asia into China (really would like to pop to Nepal as well and climb Everest base camp). From there I may return straight home to the UK, or trundle back through Russia/Europe.

I understand this is a lot to do, but I'm not planning on traveling in luxury, I just want to see and do as much as I can with the money I can muster.

What I would like to know is if anyone can provide a rough cost/budget for certain sections based on experience, what they did etc, or if anyone has anything I really need to know or see on this route.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Forgot to add likes and dislikes. Really enjoy anything outdoors, adrenaline thrills, new experiences and seeing what a country is really like, as well as the tourist attractions.
