Going on a road trip with my best friend in a few weeks, because he is moving to Florida. While it is going to be a trip to remember, at the end of the trip only one of us is going to be getting on a plane to fly home. I just want to spend as much time with my buddy before we part ways. I'm not sure the next time I'll have the time to visit him and I just want to make the most of the little time we have left.
While we have plenty of time to make the trip, we were hoping to take no longer than a week to get there.
Our first main stop along the way will be in Alburquerque NM to visit our friend in the military. Our other stop that we want to see is New Orleans in Louisiana.
I know there are tons of things we can do along the way, but I just don't know enough about any of the states we will be passing through.
We can either take the 10 all the way to Ft. Lauderdale, otherwise we can drive a bit north from where we are leaving from in Calfornia, and hop on the 40 and take that to Alberquerque, New Mexico, then figure it out from there.
I told my friend that since we have the time/money we should take a few days and just enjoy the time we have on the road. I probably won't ever do another road trip across the US like this, and neither will he. I figured this would be a great way for both of us to see some sights we might not ever see again, so I'm just looking at this trip as kind of a bucklet list of places to see.
As I said before the only place we both really want to do is check out New Orleans and grab a beer and some good seafood. Everything else we are still trying to figure out.
I said we should just camp in local camp grounds as for one, it might be cheaper in some areas vs. getting a motel room. But more importantly we be one with the land and sleep under the stars! We both figured that there has to be tons of places to camp(otherwise just pull over and sleep somewhere with a tent).
We won't be leaving till around August 10th so we still have a decent amount of time to figure out the logistics of everything, but I was hoping some of you guys could help us see some sights that would blow our minds, and even recommend some delicious places to eat at along the way!
Thanks in advance!
