My wife and I are traveling to SE Asia in a few days. We'll be in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. We're American.
We usually take a similar trip every year. We've traveled quite a bit. In the past, we've just withdrawn cash from an ATM using our banking debit card. I usually try to take out the maximum amount the ATM will allow, because I've found I'm usually hit with a $5 for an international withdraw.
Is there a better way to be doing this? While traveling abroad, we've always just paid for stuff with cash from an ATM. We'll be overseas for six weeks, so the fees will add up.
Any helpful advice would be much appreciated.
