I'm off on Friday until Monday with the gf - never been before so am pretty excited. I've had some good advice from friends on where to go and what to do - the main museum, boat tours etc, but would welcome other opinions and thoughts too.
I'm not interested in Anne Frank's house - I realise the cultural and historical significance of it but I know plenty about her and have no need/desire to see the house.
We want to keep it as fun as possible - we're not huge drinkers but obviously would like a couple of pints/glasses of wine - is it expensive? I live in Stratford on Avon so I'm used to expensive drinks.
As the the green... I smoked weed for about 8 years until 2 and a half years ago - at which point I quit fags/weed full stop. I thought about having a smoke just for the weekend but decided against it - it's been this long and I don't want to reset the counter to zero. I do want to try the brownies though... in 8 years I never once tried eating it :) Any advice on this is very much appreciated please - is it much different? What can I expect? How much should I have? I want to be able to wander around the museum nicely high and enjoying things, not collapsed in a heap dribbling. Also, has anyone ever tried mailing some cakes back home...?
Basically any advice or recommendations are very welcome - I've only ever met nice Dutch people and I hear this is the case in Amsterdam too, so I'm looking forward to it.
tl;dr: Amsterdam travel advice please. Thanks in advance!
