Driving from Portland Maine to Acadia national park, any suggestions for route and places to stop along the way?

My gf and I are driving from Portland to Acadia, I've heard that there is a lot of beautiful fishing towns, lighthouses, etc. along the way. Any specific suggestions would be much appreciated!
