I'm a US citizen that lives in Canada, travelling back to the US next Wednesday. There was a leak in our house that caused the safe that all of our documents are stored in to get some water in it, enough to soak my passport.
It's older and the picture is on the inside of the front cover, all of the data is still visible but there's definitely some darkening to the paper because of the ink from the cover bleeding through now.
There's no way to get a new one short notice (nearest consulate is quite a ways away), if I fly down and get to customs, what are my chances of being turned back? I can bring my birth certificate, Canadian permanent resident card, etc., if the data is readable and the barcode in the back is still scanable and fine, will I be okay? Or am I royally screwed out of tickets/etc.?
