Can someone explain what is going on with American Airilnes pricing?

I've started looking for a one-way ticket from LA to Montreal, and have come across the cheapest stream of tickets I'd ever seen - if you check on google flights, the entire month of August and beyond is $169 with AA. What does this mean? Is this some sort of promotion? Will this last/become a permanent pricepoint for this route? What's even crazier is that the YUL-LAX segment is also under $200 ($196) - what does this mean!

If someone has some sort of explanation, I'd really appreciate it! Toronto, Boston, and even NYC don't have tickets this cheap. Why Montreal? And why now? This route is usually $250+ one way!

How do I keep track of these price cycles? What is the pattern?
