I'm a pretty experienced traveler, but my long-term travels are on the back burner for the moment while I save up some more money. I'm going to see family in Florida around Thanksgiving, and I've been kicking around the idea of spending a week with them and then flying from there to Bogota.
I have an ex-gf in Bogota, who I've been communicating with, and she tells me that it's expensive around that time (Nov. 28 - Dec. 8) because everyone is on vacation? Anyone have anymore info on this?
Also, obviously 8 days isn't enough to experience Colombia, but what would you guys recommend for a possible itinerary? I was thinking four nights in Bogota, and then maybe one other destination?
Lastly, my family is under the assumption it's unsafe. I have been all over Europe and Southeast Asia and never felt unsafe, even in the shadier parts of Eastern Europe. Assuage their concerns and remind me that it's not an unsafe destination, by any means.
