Hey everybody,
I'll be traveling throughout Europe pretty much all of August and September. My university lets me go on an exchange semester, so I'll be traveling around prior to the start of classes.
Anyhow, I and another student from my University ended up in the same exchange university. We've planned this trip together so we didn't travel alone, you know, some company. I'd like to know if anybody has any recommendations on traveling with people you don't know that much. I mean, she's become a friend of mine now, and trust isn't an issue. What I'm worried about is how we'll handle any problems that will surely come up while we travel.
So far the best recommendation I've been told is simply "If you want to do X and she wants to do Y, each do whatever he/she prefers". Any other good tips?
So far we've found a balance between what each of us wants. I've respected her on some decisions (like not staying at party hostels) and she's respected mine.
My second question to you is this: While I agreed not to stay at party hostels, we decided that we'd still try going to some and check them out.
For example, from what we understood, it seemed like places like Kabul (Barcelona), The Yellow(Rome), Carpe Noctum(Budapest), have their own bars. I was wondering how realistic it would be to go out some nights and drink over there.
I mean, one the one hand, I'm not staying at the hostel. But on the other hand, I'll be buying drinks from their bars and I'm sure they can't be against that. Plus, I doubt they have any idea who's actually staying at the hostel and who isn't.
Is this a good idea? Or should I just stick to the hostels I've reserved. I'm sure there'll be people at our hostel as well, but well, it'd be nice to check out the popular hostels in each city at least one night.
